Recreation Program Director – Brokenhead River Recreation Commission (BRRC) Term Position

The Brokenhead River Recreation Commission (BRRC) is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual with a passion for recreation and wellness to apply for the full-time (Term) position of Recreation Program Director. (Term is approximately 13 months commencing September 1, 2022). Days or hours negotiable.

The Recreation Program Director is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of recreational programming within the District (i.e. Town of Beausejour and RM of Brokenhead including Garson and Tyndall). The Program Director will take the lead on all financial, human resource and communication related operational items and will work to maintain good working partnerships with various organizations within the District and levels of government.  

A satisfactory Child Abuse Registry check and First Aid/CPR certification are conditions of employment. A diploma or certificate in a related field as well as 2 years of related experience are an asset but not required.

Quarry Park Manager - Town of Stonewall

The Town of Stonewall invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Quarry Park Manager. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Quarry Park Manager shall be responsible for managing the operations of the Stonewall Quarry Park multiple use facility in compliance with Town policies and direction as set by the Council of the Town of Stonewall.
The preferred applicant will have a minimum of 5 years managerial experience within an active and dynamic environment, be highly organized and independent, have strong administrative, interpersonal and communication skills, education and experience which provides a sound background in facility management, recreation and leisure.  Education, experience or background in culture & heritage services or programs, community economic development, tourism and/or community relations would be considered and asset.

Recreation & Community Services Manager - Rural Municipality of Tache

The Rural Municipality of Taché is seeking a Recreation & Community Services Manager to be responsible for promoting and marketing the social, artistic, physical, cultural/historical and educational recreation opportunities for the community needs on a municipal wide basis. This position is responsible for implementing a management strategy for community leisure and recreational programs within the local community facilities.

The incumbent must be a self-starter and initiate strategic planning principles with community groups and independent recreation-based community organizations. The work requires the employee to exercise judgement, initiative and creativity. The preferred candidate will have a Grade 12 diploma as well as secondary education in a recreation or arts management related field or extensive background in dealing with volunteer community organizations and fostering leadership, promoting marketing and carry out long term goals. The incumbent must have a valid driver’s license. The incumbent requires a working knowledge of the municipal accounting system in order to manage the annual budget; Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, and social media applications as well as any other software application that may be implemented from time to time. The incumbent requires the ability to use computers, scanners, photocopiers, facsimile machines, calculators and printers.

To excel in this role, the candidate will have a strong capability to communicate and deal effectively with the public, to work with Council and staff, and to build partnerships in the community and surrounding area, while effectively representing the interests of the Municipality.

Icemaker/Caretaker- University of Manitoba

Under general supervision, the Icemaker-Caretaker is responsible for all ice-making and arena maintenance procedures, as well as caretaking of all facilities in the Max Bell Centre arena and fieldhouse. Responsibilities include (but are not exclusive to):

• Installs and maintains ice surface using various mechanical hand-held tools, and motorized equipment.

• Maintains arena boards and glass as required.

• Monitors condition and quality of ice, brine temperatures and reports malfunctions to a supervisor or Power Engineer.

• Cleans and maintains all facilities, including the operation of relevant tools and equipment, according to acceptable caretaking standards.

• Responsible for performing minor repairs and maintenance on arena equipment, as required.

• Provides minor grounds-keeping and utility caretaking duties as required.

• Performs other duties characteristic of the classification.

• Must maintain operator’s log.

Administrative Coordinator - Macdonald- Headingley Recreation District (MHRD)

Reporting to the MHRD Recreation and Community Services Manager, the Administrative Coordinator is the primary point of contact with citizens from the municipalities of Macdonald and Headingley. In addition to completing day-to-day administrative functions, the Administrative Coordinator provides support to MHRD team members and contract instructors. This position provides information to, and accepts registration and payments from customers in addition to regularly liaising with companies and municipal staff who support the MHRD office. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who demonstrates a sound organizational skillset. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated individual interested in working with a small team of dedicated and fun people.       Head Lifeguard - Town of Wainwright 

      The Wainwright Communiplex is seeking a self-motivated individual who has strong leadership and team building skills as well as being knowledgeable in general pool operations. Hours of work will be 40 hours per week and will include evenings and weekends. The primary purpose of this position is lifeguarding, instructing of all levels, maintenance, supervising and training staff, and a general knowledge of the filtration and chlorine systems.


      • must have completed Grade 12 and minimum 18 years old
      • NLS, Standard First Aid, CPR-Level C, Swim & Lifesaving Instructor.
      • Experience in operating water filtration & chlorine systems and water chemistry is an asset but not mandatory. Candidate must be willing to obtain certification in Pool Operator I & II.
      • Criminal Record Check

      Rate of Pay: $31.15 per hour (as per CUPE 2022 wage grid) with a $1.00 shift premium after 5 pm and an excellent benefit package and pension plan.

      Operator/Manager - Landmark Recreation Association Arena

      Under the direction of the Landmark Recreation Association, the Arena Operator/Manager is responsible for performing duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Landmark Recreation Complex located at 101 Robert Koop Road, Landmark, MB.

      Maintenance Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

      ● Preparing and maintaining ice surface, including flooding, cleaning, smoothing and operating ice conditioning machines

      ● Preparing and maintaining of all ball diamonds, soccer pitches and green space

      ● Maintenance and operation of all facility equipment. Operate and monitor ammonia plant, following all procedures and safety requirements.

      ● Sanitizing and cleaning of all dressing rooms
