Recreation Programmer - The Rural Municipality of Hanover  

The Rural Municipality of Hanover is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Programmer. The successful candidate will be a programing coordinator and also be responsible to manage the booking, maintenance, and financial aspects within the Recreation department. This job requires you to be well organized, have a keen eye for detail, and have excellent communication skills. The position is based on 40 hours/week and may require you to flex your time. Duties include all aspects of facility usage including rentals and coordination of services, program implementation, supervision of staffing in facilities, reporting to volunteer boards, and special recreation projects.

Whitney Forum Arena Manager - City of Flin Flon

Reporting to the Director of Recreation + Parks (the Director), the Arena Manager (the Manager) assumes responsibility for the overall operation and management of the Whitney Forum Arena. The Manager, with the Director of Recreation and Recreation Programmer will work to establish a vision and direction for the Arena’s programs and services to ensure they meet the needs of the community, foster excellence in sport and recreation and are of high quality. The Manager will foster a culture of excellence in customer service and build strong relationships with community partners to support the Arena’s operations. You allocate time and effort to understanding and meeting the needs of customers and consistently display good interpersonal and social skills. The Manager will also ensure the operations of the Arena are safe, efficient, and optimal for a public facility. With a small staff team, this will often require you to balance oversight with direct service delivery. You identify and capitalize on new opportunities to generate revenue and utilization of the facility.

Administrative Assistant - Macdonald-Headingley Recreation District (MHRD)

Reporting to the MHRD Recreation and Community Services Manager, the Administrative Assistant is the primary point of contact with citizens from the municipalities of Macdonald and Headingley. This position provides information to, and accepts registration and payments from customers in addition to regularly liaising with companies and municipal staff who support the MHRD office. In addition to completing day-to-day administrative functions, the Administrative Assistant will provide support to MHRD team members and contract instructors. The successful candidate will be a self starter who communicates effectively and demonstrates a sound organizational skillset.

This is a flexible opportunity to work up to 35 daytime hours per week with a small team of dedicated team members. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the benefits of recreation and their impact in building community.

Job Duties:

  • Perform daily monitoring of trees and plant health during watering activities.

    3. Administer or arrange the therapy needs of all players on the team.

    4. Keeps accurate records of all treatments.

    5. Determines the requirements for physiotherapy needs, equipment, and supplies for the team.

    6. Controls and distributes all therapy equipment and consumables.

    7. Works cooperatively with the Coaches, and accepts duties as assigned by the GM.

    8. Familiarity with Blademaster skate sharpening equipment. Perform skate sharpening duties.

    9. Controls, distributes, and maintains inventory of all medical supplies and consumables.

    10. Ensures the dressing room is properly organized and coordinates cleaning daily.

    Facility Supervisor - Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA)

    Under the general supervision of the Facility Operations Manager, the duty of the Facility Supervisor is to ensure the ongoing daily operation of all facilities operated under the jurisdiction of the Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA) including Stride Place, Splash Island, Republic of Manitoba Park and BDO Centre for the Community. Perform duties related to the maintenance of grounds and facilities as required. Supervise, assign duties and work with staff to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.

    Experience & Qualifications: The incumbent shall have a good knowledge of facility operation along with equipment operation. Good written and verbal communication skills required and some supervisory experience within a facility operation. This knowledge would be normally acquired through a minimum of 1-2 years experience in a similar position and or the completion of courses in facility management. *This position will also be subject to a Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check.

    Building Servicer 2 - Arena / Outdoor Pool Attendant - City of Winnipeg

    The Building Servicer 2 Arena / Outdoor Pool Attendant position is a semiskilled manual labour position within an ice arena environment in the Winter season and in an aquatic environment in the Summer season. Work of this class involves a high degree of customer interaction, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and within a team to meet the operational needs in a single arena/pool facility.

    The Building Servicer 2 (Arena Attendant) provides quality customer service to a wide variety of arena facility users by performing a variety of duties that include the operating and maintaining of ice maintenance equipment, performing custodial work related to all aspects of the arena activities, operating and maintaining various types of tools and completing reports and records as required. In the Summer season the Building Servicer 2 (Outdoor Pools) will be responsible for maintaining the City of Winnipeg outdoor pools. They will perform a variety of duties that include the operating and repair of equipment, maintaining water quality, performing custodial work related to all aspects of the building’s activities, operating and maintaining various types of tools and completing reports and records as required, maintaining building and inventory of same, assisting in the training of employees and responding to customer service requests.
