GUELPH, Ont. – Turf industry professionals can once again gather at the renowned Turf Managers’ Short Course this winter. The intensive month-long professional development program is offered through Open Learning and Educational Support in partnership with the Guelph Turfgrass Institute at the University of Guelph (U of G).
From February 7 to March 4, 2022, a wide variety of turf industry professionals will have the opportunity to learn from nine experienced instructors including recognized U of G faculty. The course will be held at Guelph Turfgrass Institute’s new location at the G.M. Frost Centre at 364 College Avenue in Guelph.
Throughout the intensive course, instructors will bring their knowledge and experience to the following topics:
- Turfgrass Identification
- Turfgrass Species and Management
- Identification and Management of Turfgrass Diseases, Insects, and Weeds
- Integrated Pest Management
- Turfgrass Irrigation
- Turfgrass Equipment
- Construction and Drainage
- Landscape Management
To support continued learning, there are five monetary scholarships and awards available to students in the Turf Managers’ Short Course. As well, students can also apply for OpenEd’s two bursaries – the Virginia L. Gray Memorial Bursary and the Open Learning Bursary to assist with funding the course.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn the Turf Managers’ Short Course Certificate. TMSC sponsoring partners are Ontario Agricultural College and Guelph Turfgrass Institute.
